'Tis the season to be merry and bright and what better way to kickstart the Christmas spirit than by attending a magical Christmas Light Switch On? In this blog, we highlight the Christmas Light Switch On events in the Huddersfield area.
Huddersfield Christmas Lights switch-on
St Georges Square – Saturday 18th November 11am – 6:30pm
Organised by Kirklees Council, Huddersfield’s Christmas light Switch on has something for everyone! Including a wonderful Christmas Market with over 60 stalls, featuring local makers as well as festive food and drinks.
A number of activities begin at 1pm, with a music stage, creative workshops, reindeers and family entertainment. At the workshops, families can get crafty with screen printing, lantern making, felt badges and tree decorations. Family entertainment includes inflatable snow globes, face painting, fairground rides and walkabout characters! Once 6pm strikes, the Christmas Lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Kirklees.
Honley Christmas Light Switch on Singalong
Honley Park, Holmfirth, HD9 6HD - Saturday 11th November 6pm-8pm
To get us all in a Christmas mood the village of Honley is hosting their very own Christmas Singalong while the tree in Honley Park is lit up! Both the Honley Silver Band and HD9 Community Band will be playing carols, and some surprises are in store for any little ones attending. They have announced that a special guest will be heading down to the park to count down the light switch on!
Skelmanthorpe Christmas Light Switch on
Pennine Industrial Car Park - Sunday 26th
November from 3.30pm
Kicking off at 3:30pm from the Pennine Industrial Car Park, a parade will be making its way to ‘The Triangle’ for 4pm where a DJ will be playing live music! After some Christmas caroling, the Switch On will take place.
Holmfirth Christmas Celebration
Varied locations in Holmfirth centre, HD9 – Saturday 25th November 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Festive entertainment has been promised to the people of Holmfirth! Starting at 2:30pm and finishing at 5:30pm, these festive celebrations include live music, circus shows, 2 fire entertainment shows and the popular tinsel tractors drive by!
