Explore Beautiful Parks and Nature Reserves
Huddersfield has numerous picturesque parks and nature reserves that are perfect for kids to explore and let their imaginations run wild. Greenhead Park, Beaumont Park and Castle Hill are just a few popular destinations where children can indulge in picnics, play on the playgrounds and go on leisurely walks with their families.
Greenhead Park stands out with its paddling pool and on certain days, its enchanting miniature railway. Standard facilities include the tennis court, skate park and play area. Cliffe House also offers weekday access to a woodland adventure playground with tree-top walkways and zip lines, making it a must-visit spot during the school holidays.

Just outside of Huddersfield, there is Cannon Hall farm (a 36-minute drive from Huddersfield centre). It is known for being one of the best farms in the UK, where there are many animals to come and see such as sheep, pigs, cows, and ponies, as well as more exotic species like llamas, alpacas and even their own reptile house!
Another fun yet educational day out is at Yorkshire Wildlife Park! The park is home to over 700 animals, most famously the UK’s only polar bear! There is an abundance of things to do with an indoor and outdoor play area on top of the 70 different species of animals to visit!

Infla Nation Huddersfield
Inflata Nation Huddersfield is the next generation in family days out and leisure activities. This trampoline park lets children bounce till their hearts content and is a fantastic day out enjoyed by all ages. For certain abilities, they offer Disability Friendly sessions, Grown-Ups only sessions and Inflata Tots sessions. Adults can join in the fun on the arena or have a seat in our Café and watch the kids burn off their energy.
Huddersfield Leisure centre and splash park
When the weather calls for water-based excitement, Huddersfield Leisure Centre Splash Park is the ultimate destination. With numerous waterslides and a water playground, kids can splash and play to their heart's content, ensuring hours of thrilling entertainment, rain or shine.

- Nature trail at Cliffe house: Monday to Friday throughout the school holidays, the family nature trail can be booked, offering different activities throughout the week such as archery, pond dipping and bushcraft. There are other onsite activities such as a climbing wall, mountain biking, different woodland activities and loads more (subject to availability.)
- Interplanetary space workshop: Maker world is hosting a series of workshops in which children can create their own intergalactic space jungle which also features the celestial sound cloud. The workshops will see children of all ages add their special creations to a spectacular installation that will transform an empty shop in the Piazza Centre. In addition, the Big Event week offers drumming, music and dance workshops. There are 12 sessions to get involved throughout summer!
- Arts and craft workshop at the Tolson Museum: Stimulate your child's creativity and artistic flair by enrolling them in this workshop at the Tolson Museum! Children can create different masterpieces from a range of recycled materials. Classes are recommended for children between the ages of 3 – 12 and cost £3.50 a class, therefore is both affordable and sustainable way to pass the morning.
- Free drop-in activities at Tolson Museum: these activities include yoga classes, craft clubs, children’s sports clubs, offering something for everyone! Keep an eye out at the Tolson Museum Facebook page to keep up to date with these events.
