Things you didn't know about Kirkburton

Manor Mill is one of the three former corn mills in the village. Built in 1832 the mill had one of the largest water wheels in the country. It was used for scrap during WW2.

Transport

Although it doesn’t have its own train station, Kirkburton is well connected with bus routes and with the A629 nearby you’re well connected to Huddersfield and Sheffield. If you wanted to travel further afield, Stocksmoor train station is just a 6-minute drive from the village.

History

The Smiths Arms was once the only pub within the village and happens to be one of its oldest buildings. Built in 1669 the Tudor building is now a Grade 2 listed establishment.

There’s a great variety of eateries within Kirkburton including inexpensive takeaways, pubs and small local restaurants. This is the perfect area if you prefer a quieter night as there are no clubs or bars in the area.

Shopping

Kirkburton has a thriving range of independent shops, from clothing boutiques to restored furniture, there’s something for everyone. Although there is no large supermarket within Kirkburton itself, a Morrisons is just a 10-minute drive away.
