Things To Do in Colne Valley

With Colne Valley’s vast outdoors, you will never be short of things to do. Take a walk along The Huddersfield Narrow Canal which runs through Colne Valley from Huddersfield to Saddleworth and has miles of towpath to enjoy a summer stroll or cycle. For something more adventurous, Pule Rock is great for rock climbing and is a popular area for paragliders and hang-gliders.

If you would prefer a dry land activity, visit Marsden Golf Club for a putting session or visit Westwyns Riding School who offers horse-riding lessons and other equine facilities!

Transport

Train service is available from Slaithwaite in the Valley and they run to and from Huddersfield as well as Manchester Piccadilly. Both stations enable you to connect to other towns and cities.

Linthwaite also has several taxi firms and bus service with a regular timetable running to and from Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

History

In the early 19th century, a local spring was discovered to contain sulfurous properties and minerals, similar to those found in Harrogate. Sometime after 1820, a bathing facility was built, along with gardens and pleasure ground, with some visitor cottages.
